Los Alamitos Pest Control: A Field Guide to Local Pests
Indian Meal Moths
These pantry pests prefer to infest dry goods like cereals, grains, and dried fruits. Their presence is often revealed by webbing and frass (insect droppings) in your stored food containers.
Grubs
These beetle larvae live underground, feeding on the roots of your prized Los Alamitos lawn. Their presence can be identified by patchy brown areas and spongy turf that easily pulls up.
Mosquitoes
While not as prevalent as in coastal areas, mosquitoes can still be a summertime annoyance in Los Alamitos, especially with neglected birdbaths or clogged gutters providing ideal breeding grounds. Their peak activity periods are dawn and dusk, turning your evening relaxation on the patio into a battle against itchy bites.

Rossmoor
Rossmoor sits immediately west of Los Alamitos: unincorporated county, roughly 3,430 single-family homes and about 10,600 residents, all behind the red brick signature wall that runs the full perimeter of the community. It went up in one push between 1955 and 1961, which makes the housing stock unusually uniform — slab construction, original service penetrations unless somebody has replaced them, and sixty-five years of tree growth over the rooflines.
That uniformity is useful. What we find on one Rossmoor street we generally find on the next, and the gaps that let ants and rodents in sit in the same handful of places house to house. If a neighbour has had something, it is worth having the same points checked on yours before it becomes your problem.
Rossmoor borders Los Alamitos on two sides and Seal Beach to the south, and we cover all three on the same routes. See our Seal Beach page if you are closer to that side.
