Pest Control Services in Huntington Beach

From beachside condos to inland HOA communities, we handle every pest problem Huntington Beach throws at homeowners and businesses.
ant control

Ant Control

Argentine ants thrive in HB’s HOA landscapes and coastal moisture. We target the colony underground — not just the line of ants on your counter.

Rodent Control & Exclusion

Bolsa Chica State Beach wetlands are one of the largest mosquito breeding grounds in Orange County. Barrier treatments give your backyard back.

Termite Control

Termite Control

Storm drain infrastructure along PCH creates active rodent travel routes into HB neighborhoods. We seal entry points and eliminate the population.

Cockroach Control

Cockroach Control

Older homes in Downtown HB and Huntington Harbour are high-risk for dry-wood termites. We inspect, treat, and provide written clearance letters.

Mosquito Control

Mosquito Control

German cockroaches move through restaurant supply areas along PCH and into residential kitchens. We use gel bait and exclusion that actually holds.

Bed Bug Treatment

Bed Bug Treatment

HB’s warm microclimate and mature trees make it prime territory for yellow jackets and Africanized bees. Safe removal with same-day availability.

Huntington Beach Pest Control: Common Local Pests

Huntington Beach runs from sixties waterfront housing in the Harbour, to walk-street density around Downtown, to post-war tracts inland of Beach Boulevard, and the pest problem changes with each of them. Here is what we run into most often:

Drain Fly Pest Control

Flies

Fruit flies gravitate towards overflowing beach coolers and forgotten picnic baskets, leaving behind unwanted visitors on your outdoor adventures. House flies and gnats target moist areas around trash cans and recycling bins, making outdoor entertaining a potential minefield.

Mosquito Control

Mosquitoes

Huntington Beach’s lush landscaping and proximity to breeding grounds like neglected pools and poorly maintained storm drains make it a haven for mosquitos. Their peak activity periods are dawn and dusk, turning your evening relaxation on the patio into a battle against itchy bites.

Where We Work in Huntington Beach

Huntington Harbour. The five islands, Admiralty, Davenport, Gilbert, Humboldt and Trinidad, were dredged out of the old Sunset Bay estuary starting in 1963, and most of the houses on them went up in the sixties and seventies. That construction era matters more than the water does. Homes of that vintage tend to have original utility penetrations, dated attic insulation and subfloor access nobody has opened in years, and those are the routes rodents use. On a Harbour call we start at the waterline side of the house and work inward, checking hose bibs, dryer vents and the gap where the electrical service enters before we go into the attic.

Sunset Beach. Narrow lots, tight side yards, and a lot of taller rebuilds standing next to original cottages. Where a new roof meets an older one at an odd angle, you get a junction that roof rats will find. We inspect rooflines here first.

Downtown and Main Street. Residential above ground-floor commercial, shared trash enclosures, and restaurant service alleys. Roaches and rodents in this part of town are usually a building problem rather than a unit problem, so treating one address without looking at the enclosure it shares tends not to hold.

Bolsa Chica and the wetlands edge. Properties backing onto open space take pressure from the reserve side that inland houses do not. Perimeter work matters more here than interior treatment.

We also cover Seacliff, Goldenwest, Oak View and the tract neighborhoods inland of Beach Boulevard.

    FAQs

    Huntington Beach Pest Control Questions

How fast can Dr. Pest respond in Huntington Beach?
Same-day appointments are often available in Huntington Beach. Call (562) 488-7455 and we’ll get a technician out as quickly as possible — often the same day for urgent situations like active rodent sightings or wasp nests.
Are pests worse near the beach in Huntington Beach?
Yes — coastal humidity keeps pest populations active year-round and accelerates insect breeding cycles. The Bolsa Chica wetlands are a major source of mosquitoes. Coastal addresses and properties near the wetlands generate more of our ant, cockroach and mosquito calls than inland ones. How well a house is sealed still matters more than how close it sits to the water.
Why do I keep getting cockroaches in my Huntington Beach kitchen?
German cockroaches spread rapidly through the shared infrastructure of multi-unit buildings and also migrate from the commercial food corridor along PCH. Retail treatments only kill what you see — we use gel bait placed inside walls and appliances that workers bring back to the harborage site. See our cockroach control service.
Do I need pest control year-round in Huntington Beach?
For most homes, yes. HB’s coastal climate rarely gets cold enough to suppress pest populations through winter. Ants, cockroaches, and mosquitoes remain active all twelve months. Our quarterly maintenance plans are the most cost-effective way to stay ahead of infestations before they start.
What’s causing the mosquito problem near Bolsa Chica?
The Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve covers over 1,200 acres of tidal wetlands — one of the most productive mosquito breeding environments in Orange County. The primary species include Culex mosquitoes (active at dusk) and the invasive Aedes aegypti (active during daytime). Barrier treatments to your property’s vegetation significantly reduce the mosquitoes that reach your outdoor living areas. See our mosquito control service.
Can you treat HOA communities and shared spaces in Huntington Beach?
Yes — we work with HOAs, property management companies, and individual homeowners to coordinate treatment across shared landscapes and common areas. For ant and mosquito problems especially, treating shared green spaces is often required to achieve lasting results for individual units.
Do you provide pest control for HB restaurants and food businesses?
Yes. We provide commercial pest control for restaurants, food service businesses, retail shops, and office buildings throughout Huntington Beach. We comply with Orange County health code requirements and can provide documentation for health inspections. See our commercial pest control service.
Are your treatments safe near the ocean and marine environment?
Yes. We use EPA-registered products that meet California coastal environmental standards. We’re mindful of proximity to waterways and always select products and application methods that protect marine ecosystems. Our technicians are trained in Orange County’s coastal compliance requirements.

Rats and Mice in Huntington Beach

Rodents are the call we get most in Huntington Beach, and the age of the housing matters more than how close it sits to the water.

Huntington Harbour. The houses on the five islands mostly went up in the sixties and seventies. Construction of that era tends to have original utility penetrations, dated attic insulation and subfloor access nobody has opened in years — and those are exactly the routes rodents use. A well-sealed waterfront house is quieter than a poorly sealed inland one.

Sunset Beach and the rebuilt blocks. Where a taller new build stands against an older one, the rooflines meet at junctions that did not exist before. Roof rats find those quickly. We inspect rooflines here before anything else.

Downtown and Main Street. Residential over ground-floor commercial, shared trash enclosures and restaurant service alleys. Rodents here are a building problem, not a unit problem, and treating one address while the shared enclosure stays open does not hold.

The Bolsa Chica edge. Properties backing onto the reserve take pressure from open space that inland houses do not. Perimeter work matters more there than interior treatment.

Trapping clears what is inside. Exclusion — sealing the entries, screening the vents, closing the roofline gaps — is what stops the next one. More on our rodent control page, or call (562) 488-7455.
